Senator Feeney and State Representative Galvin Announce the Massachusetts Legislature Enacted a Fiscal Year 2026 Budget

(BOSTON)- The Massachusetts Legislature approved a $61.01 billion state budget for Fiscal Year 2026 on June 31st with bipartisan support. The plan maintains critical investments and positively positions the Commonwealth to confront underlying budget challenges that are a result of federal funding uncertainty. One highlight is education and transportation are receiving a $1.1 billion bump over last fiscal year. This was done without raising taxes or dipping into the state’s stabilization fund. The stabilization fund—also known as the ‘Rainy Day Fund’—currently stands at a historic $8.1 billion.

SENATOR FEENEY, MASS LEGISLATURE ANNOUNCE THE DATES FOR SALES TAX-FREE WEEKEND ON AUGUST 9, 10

(BOSTON—6/12/2025) Saturday, August 9, 2025, and Sunday, August 10, 2025, are the official dates of Massachusetts’ annual sales tax holiday thanks to actions taken by the Massachusetts Legislature today. During the holiday, the state’s 6.25 per cent sales tax is suspended for most retail items priced under $2,500.

SENATOR FEENEY ANNOUNCES THE PASSAGE OF THE FISCAL YEAR 2026 SENATE BUDGET, INCLUDING BRISTOL AND NORFOLK SENATE DISTRICT INVESTMENTS

(Boston– 5/23/2025) The Massachusetts Senate on Thursday approved a $61.4 billion state budget for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26). Over three full days of debate, the Chamber adopted 493 amendments, adding a total of $81.1 million in spending for statewide initiatives and local priorities for communities throughout the Commonwealth to the Senate Ways and Means Committee’s originally proposed budget. As Assistant Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, Senator Feeney was instrumental in drafting this spending package.

SENATOR FEENEY HONORED WITH “COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER CHAMPION” AWARD

(Boston– 5/13/2025) On Monday, Senator Feeney received the “Community Health Center Champion” Award at the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers’ annual Advocacy Day at the Massachusetts State House. The Senator was honored with this award in recognition of his strong support of Manet Community Health in Attleboro and his support for legislation that would support Massachusetts’ network of 50 community health centers to care for their patients.
