SENATOR FEENEY AWARDED THE 2026 LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD BY THE ARC OF MASSACHUSETTS AND THE ADVOCATES FOR AUTISM OF MASSACHUSETTS

(BOSTON—4/14/2026) On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, Senator Paul R. Feeney (D-Foxborough) was awarded the 2026 Legislator of the Year Award by the Arc of Massachusetts and the Advocates for Autism of Massachusetts (AFAM) at an event in the Hall of Flags at the Massachusetts State House.

This award was given by the Arc of Massachusetts and AFAM in appreciation of Senator Feeney’s leadership to ensure that individuals across the autism spectrum receive the services and support necessary to achieve their full potential.

In addition to Senator Feeney, the Arc of Massachusetts and AFAM presented awards to Senator Vanna Howard (D-Lowell) and to Jeremy Spittle, Legislative Director to Senator Michael Rodrigues (D-Westport) for their work championing policies to support those with autism in the Commonwealth.

“I am incredibly honored and humbled to receive this award from the AFAM and the Arc of Massachusetts,” said Senator Paul Feeney (D-Foxborough). “Throughout my time in the Senate, I have had the pleasure meeting many patient advocates, and working alongside the wonderful families, caregivers, and human services workers at the Arc who are tireless advocates for those in the autism community. Through passing important policy priorities, like the Blue Envelope Program and Nicki’s Law, and increasing funding levels in our state budget, Massachusetts has been a national leader in supporting those with autism. All of the credit for that success belongs with the advocates throughout the autism community. Every person should feel listened to, seen, protected, uplifted and empowered. AFAM does that and more for those on the autism spectrum and I’m honored to be able to support their work.”

“Senator Paul Feeney is an extraordinary leader for the autism community. By sponsoring our priority bill to increase human services wages and securing vital funding for complex disability initiatives, he has shown a profound commitment to uplifting people with autism, and the workforce that cares for them. We are proud to name him a Legislator of the Year; his compassionate leadership and dedicated staff set a gold standard for public service in the Commonwealth,” said Arc of Massachusetts Chief Executive Officer, Maura Sullivan.

Congratulations to Senator Feeney for being recognized for his commitment to our community. This award is so well-deserved. I am grateful for our continued partnership as we work together to serve families in our shared communities throughout Bristol and Norfolk County,” said John Randall, President and CEO, Amego.
