NORTH AMERICAN VOLT HOCKEY MAJOR LEAGUE CHAMPIONS HONORED BY LT. GOV. DRISCOLL, REP. SCANLON, SEN. FEENEY AT STATE HOUSE
(BOSTON—8/21/2025) Today, Representative Adam Scanlon, Senator Paul Feeney and Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll welcomed the North Attleborough “Rolling Warriors” Volt Hockey Team to the Massachusetts State House to honor their tremendous achievement of winning gold at the North American Volt Hockey Championship held May 24th and 25th in Toronto, Canada. This gold medal represents the first ever for a United States team and secures the team a spot at the Volt Hockey World Cup in Sweden this September.
"We're so proud to welcome the North Attleborough Rolling Warriors back home to celebrate this incredible accomplishment," said Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll. "These athletes are breaking barriers every day, and their gold medal is a testament to their perseverance and talent. We can't wait to cheer them on at the Volt Hockey World Cup this fall!"
“On behalf of Space2Thrive and the Rolling Warriors, I am deeply grateful for this honor and for the recognition by Lt. Gov. Driscoll, Rep. Scanlon, and Senator Feeney,” said Spaces2Thrive President Helena Liedtke. “We especially thank Senator Feeney and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for their support in helping establish the Rolling Warriors. I could not be more proud of this young team—through hard work, determination, and strength of character, they brought home gold in their very first tournament. Volt Hockey opens doors to true community participation and demonstrates what is possible when social and physical barriers are removed and spaces are created with everyone in mind. Volt Hockey is not just a game—it is a movement.”
“Congratulations to these young athletes on their amazing achievement winning the North American title. I am so proud to have them from North Attleboro represent us at the Volt Hockey World Cup later this year,” said Adam Scanlon, North Attleborough State Representative. “The Rolling Warriors and the organization Space2Thrive are an inspiration, and I am glad to give them my support.”
“It was an honor to welcome North Attleborough’s Rolling Warriors to the State House and celebrate their historic success bringing home gold at the North American Volt Hockey Championship. This team continues to make the entire North Attleborough community proud and endlessly inspired by their perseverance and love of the game. I wish the Rolling Warriors all the best at the upcoming World Cup and in all their future success,” said North Attleborough State Senator Paul Feeney.
Following a visit with the Lt. Governor in the Governor's office, the Rolling Warriors were given a tour of the State House by Representative Scanlon and Senator Feeney. The team was honored in the House Chamber during House Session by Representative Scanlon and then welcomed to the Senate Chamber during Senate Session by Senator Feeney. The tour and visit culminated with a pizza luncheon and a presentation of congratulatory citations by Senator Feeney and Representative Scanlon in honor of the team’s gold medal success.
Spaces2Thrive is an organization dedicated to providing spaces where individuals with disabilities and their families can access recreational opportunities and participate in adaptive sports. Through this work, Space2Thrive aims to raise awareness, cultivate connections and friendships, foster a sense of self, and enhance quality of life for those otherwise unable to participate in team sports. The organization, co-founded by Helena and Helge Liedtke, launched the Rolling Warriors Volt Hockey team last year encouraged by the positive outcome of the first U.S.-based Volt Hockey team, The Boston Whiplash. They hope that continued success and awareness of the sport will inspire the founding of other Volt Hockey teams across the country.
